Parts Unknown With Porter: Discover Bracebridge, Muskoka

Fly with Porter Airlines to Muskoka this summer and discover the charming town with a stunning waterfall at its centre.

Visitors to Bracebridge, Ontario are in for a treat when they head to the panoramic bay located right downtown. Watch as the beautiful waters of the Muskoka River cascade before you, and cross right over them on the pedestrian walkway to enjoy the unparalled view. And then check out all the other fantastic things to do in and around town.

Head along the shore to where The Lady Muskoka cruise boat is moored. Take a scenic tour and explore the river a little more, as well as the lake for which the boat is named. Check out the ‘Sunset Dinner Cruise’ and the ‘Millionaire’s Row Cruise’. For those interested in paddling themselves, head across the street to LivOutside for all your outdoor adventure rental needs.

In town you’ll find eclectic establishments, such as Woodchester Villa, a historic octagonal home that is now used as event space. Next door is the Chapel Gallery, home of the well known Muskoka Arts & Crafts organization that can connect you with hundreds of artists nearby, and which hosts amazing exhibits throughout the year. For something very special, head just outside town to visit The Artful Garden project, in its final year. Or stick to downtown and visit the vendors in The Art Annex, a unique arts and crafts space where you can also get delicious refreshments and take a break.

• Also just outside of town and along the Muskoka River you’ll find cottage country’s famous theme park, Santa’s Village. Kids young and old will be delighted by all the rides, games, sights and sounds. And you’ll meet Santa too, of course. Bring your bathing suits to cool off at Santa’s Splash Pad and at his private beach on the Muskoka River.
