Golf At Clublink’s Muskoka Courses: The Best of the Best

Muskoka has some of the finest golf in Canada and ClubLink’s three clubs can lay claim to being among the best of the best in Ontario’s cottage country.

What makes golf in Muskoka so spectacular? The natural landscape of course. Recognized by National Geographic Traveller more than once for the stunning outdoors, rounds here feature fairways cutting through lush forests and rugged granite, and around sparkling blues lakes. All of which is made especially spectacular in fall, when the leaves turn to brilliant reds, oranges and yellows.

Course layouts are designed to be peaceful, quiet and secluded, and often players feel they’re the only ones on the course (except for the wildlife, which there’s a good chance you’ll see). And most impressively, course designers have taken advantage of incredible vistas to create amazing views from tee decks.

Great courses offer exceptional golf and so much more. Here’s why ClubLink’s Muskoka properties will delight the golf fanatic in your life.

Lake Joseph Club

Ranked number 79 on Score Golf’s Best Courses in Canada 2016, the Lake Joseph Club is a prestigious 18-hole championship course located on the shores of one Muskoka’s “big three” lakes (about 420 acres in fact).

The Par 72 plays just shy of 7000 yards from the back tees and fairways that are lined with large, mature trees and outcrops of granite. Precision shots are a prerequisite to make par. The club also features a smaller, but none-the-less gorgeous, 9-hole Academy Course.

Located about 10 minutes from downtown Port Carling, this is a popular course for cottagers and visitors to the the region.  The property also features the stunning Water’s Edge Wine Bar & Grill, which offers guests a place to enjoy a wonderful meal as they look out over the lake. Accommodation is also available at this property, in the charming Villas.

Grandview Golf Club

Grandview Golf Club was opened in 2001 with design input from PGA Tour veteran Mark O’Meara.  A Masters and British Open Champion, O’Meara’s amazing acumen is reflected in the different challenges that are encountered throughout this course.

Winding its way through the granite, forest and wetlands of the incomparable Muskoka region, and with tees ranging from 7,065 yards to 4,750, Grandview is a delight to play. The course, site of the 2002 Telus Skins Game won by Sergio Garcia over Vijay Singh, John Daly and Mike Weir, and the 2002 Canadian Tour Ontario Open, is accentuated by a stunning clubhouse built from granite and timber, and a nine-hole Academy Course.

Rocky Crest Golf Club

Rocky Crest Golf Club was ranked #4 by Golfweek’s Best Canadian Modern 2016 and #37 on Score Golf’s Best Courses in Canada 2016.  Since it opened in 2000, this spectacular Thomas McBroom design has accumulated many such accolades, and justifiably so. Amidst the beauty of the surrounding giant forests of pine, white birch and hemlock, the rolling fairways will captivate you as the granite outcroppings challenge your skills.

This premier golf course is presided over by an imposing pine-log lodge-style clubhouse and incorporates all the spine-tingling qualities of the Muskoka golf experience. With tees stretching from 6,936 yards down to 5,131, Rocky Crest is a delight for golfers of all abilities.

Handily enough, the course is adjacent to the Rocky Crest Resort, a great spot for families and friends to relax while others in your party are out are golfing. Ask about the kids program and day camp experience, and about outdoor events – a Rocky Crest speciality – as well.

All three ClubLink golf properties are also perfect for special events, from weddings to golf tournaments.

Sherwood Inn

Though there is no course attached to this stunning and traditional boutique inn, guests at Sherwood Inn are able to boat to nearby Lake Joseph Club to take advantage of the incredible golf there.
