Muddy Handshake Pottery
Art for everyday use is what Jeff Martens of Muddy Handshake Pottery strives to achieve with the functional pottery that he creates. His pots are purposefully simple. Jeff works with a variety of clay bodies to create dinnerware and large vases. He enjoys the connection as the creator with the folks that use his work, the process from idea to execution, and the interplay of art and technique needed to work in clay. His work has the clean, crisp lines of a modern aesthetic with subtle movement and variability that reveals the former softness of the clay and the works handmade origins. Muddy Handshake Pottery can be purchased at the West Parry Sound District Museum, the Festival of the Sound office, and at various art shows throughout the region.
