Pride in Cottage Country: Your Guide to Muskoka Pride 2026
Muskoka Pride is far more than a single week of celebration. Now in its eighteenth year, this vibrant not-for-profit organisation serves the 2SLGBTQ+ community of Muskoka and the surrounding region year-round — with monthly events, community support groups, an affiliated film festival, and one of the most warmly inclusive Pride Week celebrations in cottage country. Here’s everything you need to know about what Muskoka Pride has on offer in 2026.
Muskoka Pride Week — July 18 to 26, 2026
The centrepiece of the year, Muskoka Pride Week spans ten days across communities throughout Muskoka including Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and Georgian Bay Township. Based on the rich and diverse programming of previous years, expect a full calendar including:
- Pride Flag Raisings — kicking off the week with ceremonies at the District of Muskoka and across all member municipalities, a visible and meaningful statement of welcome from local governments
- Boat Pride Parade — Six Mile Lake — one of the region’s most joyful annual spectacles, with decorated boats taking to the water in Georgian Bay Township
- Drag Shows — multiple drag events throughout the week including shows in Gravenhurst, Six Mile Lake, and Bracebridge, featuring local and regional performers
- Drag Bingo & Drag Brunch — firm crowd favourites returning for another year of sequins, laughs, and a very good time
- Rainbow Storytime — a family-friendly event celebrating inclusion through stories for young readers
- Living Library — an innovative event in which real people share their personal 2SLGBTQ+ stories in one-on-one conversations, building empathy and understanding across communities
- Pride Paddle — a quintessentially Muskoka Pride event, taking to the water by canoe or kayak in celebration
- Pooch Pride — because everyone deserves to celebrate, including the four-legged members of the family
- Pride Swim — an inclusive, all-bodies swim event welcoming everyone
- Comedy Night, Mini Golf Tournament & Pride Karaoke — social and fun events for all ages and energy levels
- The Pride Parade & Festival — the grand finale of Pride Week, with a parade along Manitoba Street in Bracebridge followed by a festival at Memorial Park featuring 50+ vendors, live entertainment, food, and family activities
The full 2026 event schedule will be posted at muskokapride.com as the summer approaches. Applications for parade entries, vendors, performers, and community event hosts are now open.
MQFF After Dark — July 21 Bracebridge Hall, 17A Manitoba Street
In partnership with the Muskoka Queer Film Festival, Muskoka Pride hosts the MQFF After Dark screening right in the middle of Pride Week — a 19+ evening of films that couldn’t be shown in a standard theatre setting. A perfect mid-week celebration of queer cinema in cottage country.
Monthly Youth Group
Running throughout the year, Muskoka Pride’s monthly Youth Group provides a safe, welcoming space for 2SLGBTQ+ young people in the region to connect, share, and simply be themselves. In a rural area where isolation can be a real challenge for queer youth, this group plays a genuinely important role in the community. Check muskokapride.com for monthly dates and locations.
Monthly PFLAG Drop-In Group
Also running monthly, the Muskoka Pride PFLAG Drop-In Group offers a warm and confidential space for parents, families, friends, and allies of 2SLGBTQ+ people to come together, share experiences, ask questions, and find support. PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) has been a cornerstone of 2SLGBTQ+ family support across Canada for decades, and the Muskoka chapter is a vital local resource. All are welcome — no experience or prior knowledge required. Dates and locations at muskokapride.com.
Regular Drag Shows
Throughout the year, Muskoka Pride organises and promotes drag shows across the region — bringing world-class local and visiting performers to venues in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, and beyond. These events are open to all and have become some of the most popular nights out in cottage country regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Check the Muskoka Pride events calendar for upcoming shows.
Social Events
Muskoka Pride runs a regular calendar of social events throughout the year — from casual drop-ins to themed evenings — designed to build community and connection for 2SLGBTQ+ people and their allies across the region. Events are listed on the Muskoka Pride Google Calendar at muskokapride.com/google-calendar.
Away We Go Trips
One of Muskoka Pride’s most loved programmes, Away We Go organises group trips for members to Pride celebrations and 2SLGBTQ+ events in other cities — making it easier and more fun for people across Muskoka to access larger urban Pride events as part of a welcoming community group. Watch the website for 2026 trip announcements.
Get Involved
Muskoka Pride is powered by volunteers and community members, and there are many ways to get involved in 2026. Applications are currently open for Pride Week volunteers, parade participants, vendors, performers, and community event hosts. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses wishing to show their support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Muskoka.
Muskoka Pride is committed to being a safe, inclusive, and welcoming organisation for all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and their allies. All events operate under a Festival Statement of Conduct available at muskokapride.com. The organisation acknowledges that its events take place on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe peoples.
