June 1 – Van Halen One
Muskoka’s only Van Halen tribute show is hitting the stage in 2024. VAN HALEN ONE presents the music of the first incarnation of the band. The David Lee Roth Era. The show focuses on the band’s first album, sometimes referred to as Van Halen 1, performing songs like Running with the Devil, Eruption, and Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love. The remainder of the show presents hits from the rest of that first era of Van Halen. From Van Halen II’s Beautiful Girls to 1984’s Panama, and Jump.
VAN HALEN ONE is not a Clone show with musicians pretending to be Van Halen. Instead, this is a tribute show of solid musicians delivering the music of Van Halen as it should be. With intensity and exuberance. With two guitar players in the band, you will hear the songs performed live, that will include second guitar parts only ever heard on the original recordings.
Mike McAvan, as the show’s primary guitar player does all ofthe heavy lifting for the show, taking on the riffs, licks, and solos of the heroic Eddie Van Halen. Sean Cotton plays the front man role with originality, and integrity, not as a clownish imitation of the Van Halen’s singer Diamond Dave, but more as a vocal master of ceremonies. He’ll also double on second guitar when the music requires it. Rob Almond holds the arrangements together on bass guitar and with the iconic alto background vocals of VH’s Michael Anthony. Jeff Martin double kicks his way through the show on drums.
