For the Fellas: Book a Guys' Weekend in Explorers' Edge
For the Fellas: Guys’ Weekend in Explorers’ Edge
October and November are optimal months for a group of buddies to head into the Great Canadian Wilderness just north of Toronto.
There’s something about the cooler weather and darkening skies after autumn’s peak that make it the perfect time for – well – bonding.
For ten years now, thousands of women have figured this out, marking Huntsville’s Annual Girlfriends’ Getaway Weekend in November on their calendars as a time to get away with BFFs and besties, and leave everyone else behind.
Why not get on the horn to the guys and organize a break with your buddies?
The woods are quiet but easy to access because the snow has yet to fly. The lakes are even quieter with only the hum of an aluminium boat motor breaking into the silence. Fireplaces, wood stoves and bonfires crackle before you, keeping the cold away and giving you something to stare at while you catch up. And best of all – October and November have off-peak rates and availability that all the guys will like.
Need more reasons to plan a Guys’ Weekend in Explorers’ Edge? Here are five good ones.
5. Mud
Late October and the month of November are wet and muddy, and that means an ATV adventure is in order. Choose from one of many rental locations or organize a guided tour. For more on this adrenaline-infused experience, click here.
4. Beer
While you’re in the Explorers’ Edge region, visit not one – but four – craft breweries and get your beer on. Taste the ales of autumn and raise a glass to your buddies while touring these fine establishments (and learning more than you can handle about hops). For information on the local craft beer experience, click here, or visit Highlander Brew Co., Lake of Bays Brewing Co., Muskoka Brewery, or Sawdust City Brewing Co.
3. Hockey
Parry Sound is in the Explorers’ Edge region of Ontario – and Parry Sound is home to Bobby Orr. So a trip to the hometown of one of Canada’s greatest hockey heroes should be on your bucket list. Head to the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame to tell everyone back home you did – and grab some awesome grub at Don Cherry’s Sports Grill up the street.
2. Someone Else Does All the Work
Contrary to what a lot of folks believe, Ontario’s cottage country is open for business after Labour Day. From lakeside cabins to resort cottages to high-end establishments, all the food, entertainment and hospitality you need for a weekend away is waiting for you here. Plan your stay and let someone else do all the work. For some ideas on great spots to dine, click here.
1. The Great Canadian Wilderness
We said it before and we’ll say it again – the wilderness just north of Toronto provides an incredible backdrop for some much-needed guy time and epic adventures. And it’s only two hours from Toronto.
So get on the horn, call the guys, and book your epic guys’ weekend today. To make plans, click here. If not now – when?
