Muskoka Tourism’s Great Fall Driving Tours

By Kate
September 2, 2014

See Muskoka in all its splendour by experiencing one of six self-guided driving tours, complete with points of interest along the way.

Stretching from the vast wilderness of Algonquin Park to the wind swept pines of Georgian Bay, Muskoka is criss-crossed with breathtaking views, one-of-a-kind landmarks, charming towns, and during September and October, spectacular Fall colours.

Fall 2012 Drive to work Windermere to BBNow, with your smartphone, you can take the self-guided tour digitally from your hand-held device. With the new enhanced mapping component of our driving tours, you can follow along the route on your phone’s GPS, stopping along the way at each point of interest on the map. For instance, if you are passing by the Muskoka Wharf, you can click on the point of interest on the map to find out that the Muskoka Boat & Heritage Centre is North America’s only in-water, indoor exhibit of working antique boats. Take a look through each of the six driving tours, and pick the one (or six) that you want to experience!

Heart of Muskoka
Starting and ending in Bracebridge, the tour takes you around Lake of Bays and Huntsville, before continuing around the “big three” lakes. Taking in the best from all the regions, this tour could last from 4-6 hours, but is definitely worth the trip to see stunning scenery from all corners of Muskoka.

Muskoka’s Rugged Coast
Taking you to Georgian Bay Township, this tour showcases the rugged granite outcroppings and windswept pines that make this region so spectacular. It is a sight to see how different Georgian Bay’s landscape is in comparison to other parts of Muskoka.

Touch the Past, Embrace the Future & Discover True Nature
Starting and ending in Huntsville, this tour will excite you with its historical significance. Points of interest include the Dyer Memorial, Muskoka Heritage Place and the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery.

Gateway to Muskoka & Beyond
This tour takes you around Lake Muskoka, stopping through the charming towns of Bala, Port Carling and Bracebridge, before ending in Gravenhurst. You do not want to miss the view from Huckleberry Rock in Milford Bay!

Muskoka’s Playground
This tour of Lake Rosseau is great for scenic vistas and stunning scenery. Bring your camera and find the perfect scenic shots for your Muskoka scrapbook.

Unforgettable Shorelines
This tour takes you along the popular route that circles Lake of Bays, showcasing three quaint, friendly villages: Baysville, Dorset and Dwight. The view from atop of the Fire Tower in Dorset is well worth the climb!
