The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests in 2012. Today celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests that support wildlife, biodiversity and that help to battle climate change.

Winter still has its grip on the region - but it sure is beautiful to look at! Great photo in @algonquin_pp by @trail_bound.

It has been a long winter but a beautiful one at times. @shooteverything.ca in Huntsville and @muskokabeachhouse.ca on Sparrow Lake have captured late winter light to perfection.

The Forest of Light at @sandhillnursery runs well in to March. If you haven't been there is still time to catch this immersive woodland walk!

The trails in @algonquin_pp are in great winter shape - perfect for snowshoeing and packed down enough to hike. Explored the Algonquin Logging Museum Trail, interacted with some friendly wildlife and soaked in the history of the park. Such a great spot!
