July 8 – Bands on the Bay: Whiskey Jack
A free concert overlooking the bay? This is The Thing To Do on a summer Tuesday evening! Performances are held outside on our bayside deck, or inside in case of rain from June to August. Domino’s Pizza Parry Sound will be on-site selling pizza, accompanied by The Stockey Centre’s licensed cash bar.
Whiskey Jack’s success began in the 1980’s when the band was invited to host their own “Ol’ Back Porch” segment on CBC TV’s Tommy Hunter Show. Then, when Stompin’ Tom resumed his career, he called Duncan and invited Whiskey Jack to join him in the studio to record his acclaimed album, “Dr. Stompin’ Tom… Eh?”. These two Canadian musical institutions would continue to perform and record together until Tom’s death in 2014. Today, Duncan is joined by two-time Juno nominee, Douglas John Cameron. These seasoned veterans carry the Whiskey Jack tradition into a post COVID world.
