July 1-9 – Ontario Family Fishing Event
Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters for free. The Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as free fishing:
February 18-20, 2023 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday)
May 13 & 14, 2023 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
June 17 & 18, 2023 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
July 1-9, 2023 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday).
During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.
There has never been a better time to go fishing with your family!
Free fishing participants must fish under the Conservation fishing license limits which are set out in the current Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. With the exception of the licensing requirement, Ontario fishing regulations, fees and limits continue to apply during free fishing days. Participants must carry a government issued photo ID that states your name and date of birth. Printed copies of the summary are available at licence issuers and ServiceOntario Centres.
