August 31 – Classic Lightfoot Live
Returning to the the Charles W. Stockey Centre for one night only.
CLASSIC LIGHTFOOT LIVE celebrates the music of folk-rock legend, Gordon Lightfoot.
Take a trip down memory lane….with CLASSIC LIGHTFOOT LIVE!
Founded in 2012 by lead vocalist, John Stinson, a long time Ontario musician. John has been entertaining audiences around Ontario for over 30 years. He has been widely praised for his uncanny sonic resemblance to Gord, and his attention to replicating Gord’s original studio recordings. John was trained and mentored to play Gordon Lightfoot music by the legendary Red Shea. “To me Lightfoot’s music really does reflect what it means to be Canadian. His lyrics tell stories; his stories, our stories. They reach out and touch audiences in deep emotional ways.”
Playing 6 and 12 string guitars, just like Gord, John is backed by the CLASSIC LIGHTFOOT LIVE band, comprising a stellar cast of seasoned musicians that deliver an infectiously enthusiastic and historically inspired show. If you are looking to experience all the sentimental and emotional music of Lightfoot’s songs, look no further than Classic Lightfoot Live. Bob Doidge, Lightfoot’s record producer, is the band’s artistic director. Steve Eyers, Gordon’s nephew is on bass guitar. Eric Kidd, on lead guitar, plays reminiscently of Red Shea and Terry Clements. Malcolm Gould is on percussion. Each of them has been influenced by Lightfoot’s music and the passion comes through in every performance.
Don’t miss this exceptional tribute show, CLASSIC LIGHTFOOT LIVE!
